Thanks Joshua – but Dark Parallel isn’t quite ready to be published…I have sent second draft to my editor for her comments. Then the designers have to make a lovely book jacket for it…then it has to go in the catalogue for the bookshops like Waterstones to see and decide how many they want to order…then the marketing department has to line up advertising and promotion slots so that everyone knows the books is out…
It’s much more than one person’s job to publish a book!
Really pleased you are dying to read it though. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out…should be a cracking installment in Josh’s story.

done the first 2,
(random but at least it is something to read and i am like 40 pages into my own book although it is not in any way related to the joshua files)
waiting for the next one!!!
(you can have a free copy of my book, even if it doesnt get published, at least you can read it!!*)
NRO
*this isnt just aimed at mg, but at anyone (i just want somebody to read it 🙂 !!!)

I’m like you, NRO, looking for something amazing to read. Have a big stack of books, but I’m like Goldilocks. They are too fat or thin and not just right.
I know what i want – the translation of Haruki Murakami’s new novel!

Have you read ENDER’S GAME by Orson Scott Card? Very exciting – a boy is recruited to a special Battle School where he ends up training special kids to fight alien bugs who are going to invade. It came out when I was 18, rollicking great book.

Or THIS PERFECT DAY by Ira Levin? In a future society everything you do is controlled and a teenage boy hears a rumour that some have escaped to a place where you can be free…

Or THE HITCH-HIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY by Douglas Adams?

Not kids books but I read them when I was a teen – they’re all ace.

read enders game and hitchhikers guide (all five!!) might try ‘this perfect day’, would you like a copy of my book? pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaasssssssseeeee!?!!!!!!!!:)

@nro Hmmm…you should be very careful about offering people your stuff to read. In electronic version, that is.

I generally have to turn down such offers, or my agent gets cross with me…
Why don’t you put it on the Web?

There are lots of fiction sites where you can put books and stories. But remember, once it is there people can steal your ideas and there is nothing you can do about it. A 17-year old author recently had a bestseller using material she’d ripped off a blogger…it happens!

Hi I love you m.g Harris and I can’t wait unroll dark parrell is out because I absolutley adored zero moment! Tomorrow I am buying ice shock( I borrowed it from a friend and she borrowed invisible city) for myself because I loved it so much! Lol from your biggest ever fan xxxxx

Do you know any other books llike yours? I love yours so much I literally can’t wait unroll dark parrell!

Thanks for your lovely comments Widdlymin!
Other books like mine – have you read Percy Jackson? Greek myths and modern day adventure. Or if it’s the secret-agent type of thing you like, how about CHERUB by Robert Muchamore, or Alex Rider books by Anthony Horowitz.

Thank you for replying! I can’t describe the thrill I got racing through my body! I will try some of those books. Thank you thank you thank you! I told my sister about your books and she loves pretending she’s josh or ixchel and making up some situations they might get into and escaping etc! She is begging me to make up stories following on from the Joshua files and drawing pictures of how I imagine the muwans and ek naan etc! I don’t know how you do it! You are an amazing author!!!!!!!!!

I got invisable city signed by you at the hay festival and it is very important to me. I live in oxfordshire and hope to meet you in person again!

I love you and your books so much I can’t leave this website alone! are you going go the hay festival this year – do you know?!?
From your massiveist hugeset infinty sized # 1 fan! Xxoxoxoxxxxxxxxxxxooooxoxoxoxoxo

Thanks again Widdlymin, it’s great to hear that your sister wants you to make up Joshua story. A couple of Joshua fans have set up a site for readers to write their own stories: http://joshuafilesff.com
Why don’t you have a go at writing something for them?
I’m not going to Hay this year but if you’re in Oxfordshire there’s my event at Kennington Literary Festival on 24th April. See brochure pg7: http://ow.ly/1h7Yb Oxford twitterers, please RT!

Thank you i will try and get to kennington literary festival!! I might write something on that website – but I’m a little shy with my stories!
Thank you again!

Hello Mg. Harris. I have read all of your book which are Invisible City, Ice Shock and Zer Moment. I really love them. This book are my number one top favourite books. Now I really want to read The Dark Parellel. I really dying to read that book. Thank you very for your time writing all the books. Thank you. Ammaar

Hello M.g Harris. Many people are asking me is that book wicked. I replied of course. This book will make you a dream and it will tell you the imagination of Invisible city. It happened to me as well in the dream. Now my two young brothers are reading. Thank you very much. Ammaar (from Hatchend High school. The same person in the message up.)

Hey Ammaar, thanks so much for your comments and for telling your brothes and friends about Joshua Files. It’s so great that you even dreamt about it! Hope you’ll also enjoy Dark Parallel (book 4). It is out in April! Best wishes, MG

Invisible City is a real-page turner and I would recommend it to boys and girl who love an adventure. Me Which I am deaf and started reading at the age of 6. It was interesting and kind of briliant adventure because of how Josh life was normal and it turned into terrible problems. The description is brilliant, I really love the detail. I like how it made you start thinking about Josh right from the start. Thank you very much. (Ammaar, From Hatch End High School)

Hello MG. Harris. When our teacher had told us that it was the day to go to the Library, I sighed just thinking about borrowing a book to read throughout the session. I came across your serious, Invisible City, Ice Shock and Zero Moment. Unfortunately our library didn’t have Dark Parallel (bummer). I loaned the three books for 2 weeks and didn’t really touch them till about 12 days into my loan. I had one of those “nothing to do” days so I decided to pick up Invisible City and start reading where I left off. I got interested the more I read and now I fully understand what my teacher always says about “getting lost into your book”
I must of been reading for ages because by the time I looked up at the clock it was already 3am! I just couldn’t stop reading, it was if my brain was stuck on this mind set to just keep reading. So I finished reading Invisible City, Ice Shock and Zero Moment and now I am desperately wanting to read Dark Parallel. My 2 options are:
waiting for it to come to my local library or buying it for myself to read but of course I don’t have any transport to the nearest book shop that would sell Dark Parallel. HOWEVER this wasn’t the main reason I wanted to comment on this blog. The main reason is that after I read Zero Moment, I desperately wanted Josh to be together with Ixchel. Normally in most books I read, I really don’t care who the main chracter ends up with but with this book its different. I felt apart of me in the book, I couldn’t even eat my dinner, I was just entranced thinking about the possibilities about Josh saving the day again and him and Ixchel being together, living happily ever after. I know that my sound a bit stereotypical but that is how I like the end of stories. I know that may sound a bit predictable but please don’t let Benicio end up with Ixchel. I have used to much eye power for them to end up together. I know I can rely on you because you always seem to surprise me when I am reading your books. Please consider what I have written above. If you really think there is a possibility that Josh will be together with Ixchel, enough to incorporate it into your book I will be forever grateful to you because this series is the first time I have actually wanted to read and not have to force myself to read just to get a better understanding of the English Language

Thanks,
Regards Melstarre

Sorry there are a lot of grammatical errors in my comment. I would fix it up but there are no editing tools I can use. I hope you can understand what I have written.

P.S. Thank you for writing such a thriller of a book, it has everything in it. Action, adventure, time travel etc. You have just made the ultimate book for adolescent boys like me.

Regards Melstarre

Thanks so much, Melstarre, so such lovely comments! I’m really thrilled that you have enjoyed reading these books so much. Hope you find Dark Parallel soon – it is out this month in Australia. (I think you’re in Australia, is that right?) Or you can buy online from this Aussie bookstore:
http://www.fishpond.com.au/Books/Dark-Parallel-Joshua-Files-M-G-Harris/9781407111032?cf=3
So, you think Josh should be with Ixchel? (Josh would agree!). Well, I don’t want to spoil any surprise but hopefully reading Dark Parallel will make you feel happier on this point…

Thank you for replying MG!
I do live in Australia. How could you tell?
Well, the first thing I did when I got back form the holidays was inquire about Dark Parallel in my school library. I talked to the librarian and she said that she wasn’t sure if the book was in the library. After doing a quick search for the book, the librarian informed me that they didn’t have Dark Parallel (my heart sank). She had suggested that when it did arrive that she would call me to come pick it up. At the assembly the next day, the speaker announced all the daily notices and I heard this, “may these people please go to the library… (my name).” I looked up shocked and excited that the book I had wanted arrived so fast. So after the assembly had ended, I quickly raced over to the library and whipped out my library card. There it was, the beautiful book I had been wanting to read for days. Dark Parallel sitting on the shelf ready to be loaned. I speedily loaned it and put the book in my bag. From then on I had been looking at the clock constantly, waiting for the bell to ring so that everyone could go home. When I got home, I didn’t waste anytime. I changed into something comfortable and started reading straight away. After about 7-8 hours of constant reading (taking breaks of course) I had reached the conclusion of the book. I read the lead on to the final book and it kills me to wait till 2012, for the next book to come out!
After reading Dark Parallel, I was in a good mood for days. After having read pages 225-257, I don’t quite remember exactly but I think I did my own little happy dance. I was just so elated!

Thank you for writing another THRILLER of a book. I hope you decide to publish the fifth and final book earlier than its release date.

Thanks so much Melstarre, it’s really so kind of you to give me such enthusiastic and rapid feedback! I’m delighted to see that you managed to get hold of DP so quickly.
Well, now you have to join the other Joshua readers waiting for the final book…sorry about that! Hope you find lots of other thrillers to read in the meantime. Have you read The Hunger Games yet? Or Ender’s Game?

Hey MG! Thanks for replying again!
I was delighted too! I loved the book, literally loved it!
It’s ok… I guess I can wait because I know that by me waiting, I will be rewarded in 2012 by a magnificent book.
Unfortunately I haven’t read the Hunger Games BUT I will make sure I search thoroughly in the library for it. I have been reading some books lately. However they are a bit too much… I had read the previous 3 books a year ago and had wondered about the 4th. The book is called Plague by Michael Grant. The 3 books before are (in order of release date), Gone, Hunger, Lies and then Plague. I just finished reading Plague after borrowing it from the Library yesterday. It’s pretty huge and not for the faint hearted. I am waiting for the next book (Fear) which is coming out in 2012! Don’t tell Michael Grant this but I want your book more than I want his.

Once again, Thanks!
