Friends from the Official Joshua Files Facebook group at Krispy Kreme on Day One
Forgive me bigging up my own novel but today is the day!
I’ve been receiving lovely emails from all my friends who are finally reading ‘The Joshua Files: Invisible City’. They’ve been very positive so far. The former Chair of Governors of the school where I’m a governor sent me a lovely email this morning, saying that he would read it by Friday and give me his opinion then…’Ok so far’ he wrote. Ooer…
Most of the events the publishers have organised will take place over the year, starting next Tuesday with the fab launch party in London’s La Perla Mexican restaurant and bar. (We loved Mestizo but needed a more central location).
But this week we do have a few things coming up:
1. Party at Krispy Kreme in Oxford (4pm-5.30pm)
The doughnuts are on me! Bring along your copy of TJF for me to sign! This has been organised via the Official JOSHUA FILES Facebook Group.
2. Wed 6th 4pm-7pm BBC Radio Oxford – I’m the co-host on Bill Heine’s drivetime show.
Bill and I are meeting first at Costa where the secrets of doing his show will be explained to me in about 20 mins…
You can listen via the Web http://www.bbc.co.uk/oxford/local_radio/
3. Saturday 9th 3-4pm Blackwell’s Oxford
Yay, my first book signing. For goodness sake, if you live in shouting distance of Oxford please come along to this! Or it’ll just be me and a stack of books… Afterwards we can all go out for afternoon tea. Sound good? C’MON!

Will try and make the Saturday book-signing at Blackwell’s, although I doubt you’ll be alone for long! Such an exciting week for you – good luck with it all and have great fun. xx
Darn e-mail not sending. Oh well.
Wow congratulations! Your now officially a published author!
In first period today i saw the date and smiled! Then under some truly mysterious events, including a board pen and an empty room, the words, “Joshua Files: Invisible City Release Date Buy Now!” Appeared underneath the date. I wonder who that could have been…
I would send you a picture but i look terrible in pictures. I mean TERRIBLE. Like super terrible.
Are you going south on visits? Or Hemel Hempsted? If you are then maybe i’ll bump into you!
I’m sure you won’t be alone with a pile of books. You see it ocassioanlly, but i only saw it once. Probably because the book was non-fiction, and about ghosts. But with the Joshua Files Eye-Catching cover there will be plenty of sales!
Lukas…
Lukas, you remind me of…ME!
When I was 12/13 I used to cover the blackboard with stuff about ‘Blake’s 7’ every Monday when it was on TV, reminding girls in my class to watch it. And when they aired the final episode of Season Two on the school’s Drama and Dance evening I had the class make such a fuss that they had to put a TV in our form room so that we could watch it as we waited to do our performance. My one and only ever star strop! (bizarrely, my best friend and I were the stars…)
Scholastic are organising a tour of Waterstones in June and hope to include IOW and HH. With any luck!
Sarah luv, can’t wait to see you and M, really hope you make it!
Ah, another whiteboard vandaliser. I like it!
A waterstones tour!? Well well. Lucky Waterstones. Then hopefully i will see you. I’ll buy another copy while i’m there then. I’ll make sure i’ll get to you though. Even if it means going to southampton or portsmouth etc. I’m sure i’ll get over the fact i may have to miss a day of school!
Well i wonder how many page hits the website has now! This one including the official Joshua Files site. Hopefully hundreds and many more to come!
Surely you’re coming to Newcastle! The people-traffic around Waterstones and WH Smith is huge on any day of the week. If not (and you’d better!) do you have a book-signing schedule so that us mere mortals can plan a trip to somewhere nearby-ish?
Cor! This is exciting!
Hi there! Of course, I wasn’t able to attend, but here’s what I did to celebrate, as properly as circumstances allowed, this momentous date: I went to my local Krispy Kreme shop, bought 2 donuts, and ate them at home (today was a non-working day in Mexico) while reading from this blog, watching the video, reading the sample chapter… Felicidades, and may the book become a big success!!
martín
Martin, what a lovely way to co-celebrate!
Thanks so much, it means a lot to know you were thinking of me this day.
…Oh My Goodness. Waterstones has already had a Joshua File restock and today when i visited there was literally a small crowd looking at the Joshua Files. I had some marketing fun too.
Most parents were looking at the book asking, “Should we buy it?” Too which i would look away and chant “Yes!” They never knew. ha, i had fun. I got at least two families to buy it. And The Joshua Files is in the local Waterstones charts!
I haven’t seen what it’s like in WHSmith. I don’t like them anymore, (evil advanced proof sellers and 1 actual copy of the book sellers).
Is Scholastic giving you a sales report? I’d like to know how it’s going, then i can spend more time in Waterstones secretly urging people to buy the book.
Lukas…
Lukas – it’s important to support all the retailers – although I understand your loyalty to Waterstones!!!
WHSmith’s have the largest number of outlets. And a little bird told me they will be putting Joshua on a Buy One Get One Free promotion – don’t know when. So I LOVE them!
I think it’s all going well, but don’t have any sales figures yet. Thanks for urging people to buy the book!
Very exciting news…my agent is having a fan site built where readers can interact with each other and stuff…should be ready next week. More on this later…
Where do i sign up?
Tell you later when it’s done.
Meanwhile – there’s an insert of an excerpt of INVISIBLE CITY in this week’s Kraze Club magazine. It has Ben10 on the cover.
I bought some to send to my niece and nephews in Australia. They are very happy cos they’ll be getting Joshua months before any of their fellow Ozzies…
